CS 4600: Senior Project
Project Completion Presentation
Assignment
Present your project results to the class. Share the high points about your project and your accomplishments.
Prepare 5-6 slides that you will use in your presentation. Use 4 minutes to present in class. You should practice your presentation ahead of time to be sure you can fit the important information in that time. Your presentation must be a PDF file. If you want to use external resources, such as short video clips, post them publicly and link them from the PDF file.
This is not a project demonstration. This is a discussion of the features and results obtained from your project.
Presentations will be on April 15, 17, 22, and 24. You must be present all days, regardless of the day of your presentation.
See your assigned presentation day and time in Canvas/Files/Schedules.
Possible Outline
- Introduce yourself. (e.g. I’m Curtis Larsen, graduating this semester. I’m applying to work in local software positions.)
- Describe the problem your project is addressing. (e.g. I have too many wardrobe options. Sometimes the same shirt gets selected twice in the same month. Other shirts don’t get selected during a semester. I want an application to help me stay organized.)
- Describe the features of your solution. (e.g. The WardrobeManager application keeps track of all shirts registered. Each day’s shirt selection is recorded by taking a picture. Image recognition software identifies the shirt and records the current date. If the shirt has been used in the last two weeks, a warning alarm is raised.)
- Describe any interesting architecture or algorithmic features of your solution. (e.g. I used tensorflow with object recognition and a specialized image similarity calculation to recognize the shirt of the day. The application stores all data in a cloud database. Registering new shirts and recording daily usage is a mobile application. There is a simple web application that allows me to review the history in any browser.)
- Describe any possible future plans. (e.g. With more time, future features include: a shirt recommendation feature, a tool to list shirts not used in the last 2 months, and a tool to recommend shirts to remove from the collection. I would also like to expand from shirts to include other articles of clothing such as socks, pants, and shoes.)
- Answer any questions.
Grading
The presentation must be submitted as a PDF by the due date to receive any credit. You must attend all presentation days to receive any credit. To receive full credit, the presentation must take between 3.5 and 4.5 minutes; it must clearly communicate the need for your project, the implemented features, and the technical resources used.
Submission
Upload PDF of the presentation to the Canvas assignment, by 11:59 pm on April 14.
